Reviewing Ideas from the New Martha!

Have you gone out to get your copy yet? I think I already mentioned how excited I was to get the new Martha Stewart Weddings magazine over the break. I probably have way too many wedding magazines. However, I think that Martha Stewart has one of the better ones because it is filled with ideas, tips, diy suggestions and is not inundated with advertisements like many of the other ones.

Anyways I thought I’d pick out some bits and pieces from the different features that I really enjoyed and how I could potentially add my own touch to include them in my wedding.

I loved these pictures done with different color themes. The details and fun little items were so fun to pick out.

I was happy to see the feature on different things you can do with scrapbook paper. First of all I already have a bunch of it and second of all it’s an affordable way to add personal touches and use some DIY skills.

Table Numbers:

These were done by cutting the paper in half and then using a number stamp with gold ink. If I were to use this for my wedding I would maybe cut numbers out using my cricut and then frame the scrapbook paper to make it a little more sturdy.

Paper Flowers, Wrapped Vases and Runners:

I really like the idea of wrapping the vases and candle votive holders. For the runner I would favor using wrapping paper just for ease of use, but if you some paper you really want to use that would work.

Sweet Sensations:

How adorable are these little guys? The heart is so sweet. These would also be great for little shower favors to add some decor to the table.

Placemats:

I think this can give a pop of color to your table, especially if you don’t want to pay for fancy chargers or linens. I would choose a softer design so that it doesn’t over power the centerpieces. Another idea would be to paste the menu on this sheet maybe on a circle shaped paper under where the plate goes.

What were your favorite parts of the new Martha Stewart Weddings magazine? Later I’ll also share on some more ideas that gave me inspiration for our escort cards and floral details.

Adding Memories and Personal Touches with Pictures

I love taking pictures. When I studied in Europe for a year I took literally thousands of pictures. Can you imagine what it was like to travel with me? Ask any of my regular travel buddies and they will probably roll their eyes when you mention me and my camera. Well, everyone appreciated it in the end and we have some awesome pictures despite frequent picture breaks. For our wedding I want to incorporate lots of personal touches and one of the ways to do that is with pictures.

We have not decided what exactly to incorporate, but there are so many ways to use your own photos on the wedding day. We want our guests to walk away from our wedding with the feeling that they know us just a little bit better and it was not just a party, but a personal celebration.

Here are some of the ideas I love so far:

I think a deck of cards with personal photos could be great gifts for your bridesmaids or groomsmen. They would be a fun addition to any out of town bag for people who are traveling and need something extra to do.

These kisses are precious! Imagine these at your candy bar or inside cute little favor boxes at the table.

Photo confetti is a unique idea. It might make quite a mess, but the miniature photos are too cute. They could be sprinkled at the guest book table, dessert table or wherever else you desire.

I love the photo screen or the string of pictures on display for your guests. I think this is such a perfect way to incorporate family and friend photos to make your guests a part of the day. I might do something like this on display for the cocktail hour as it will be fun for people to look through the pictures and a conversation starter as old memories are brought up.

Look at the latest way to personalize M&Ms! I know we are using M&Ms so we could personalize the M&Ms with a picture! Although, I’m not sure if I want people to be eating something with my face on it…

I know that for our thank-you cards I want to incorporate a wedding picture. Obviously we are a ways off from writing thank-you cards, but I am thinking ahead.

How fun are photo stickers! You could use these almost anywhere and even incorporate your monogram.

I know I want to incorporate pictures with our table numbers. I want to frame them in some sort of rustic frame and have a description of what is happening in the picture. Mr. Ducky had the idea to name the table after different dates or significant places in our relationship. So its a DIY project in the works that I will keep you updated on. But below are a few ideas that I could maybe combine…

I don’t really have a photo example of this, but Mr. Ducky will also be creating a slideshow and video to show at the wedding. This will be a great way to use our own pictures and share with our guests about our history and relationship. He is a techie wiz, so hopefully I’ll be able to have him make a tutorial for those of us that are not technically inclined.

How are you using pictures at your wedding?
