I’m a relative newbie to the blogging, message board, wiki (aka beyond email, facebook and simple internet) world. When I first got engaged I started on the knot with browsing the pictures and different subject areas. Then I became brave and ventured over to the boards. (Some of which I am still too scared to really become a part of) It seemed like things would be helpful, but I did not know half of what they were talking about! It looked like “alkjfdadlj adf aldf” some secret code that I could not decipher. Definitely not something you can find in the dictionary…”Where is the wedding code?”

How was I supposed to know that to find the wonderful centerpiece idea I needed to understand that “PIB” meant “Picture In Bio”? What is a “FI”? Do I want one?? You get the idea…Well if any of you are new to this language of the wedding blog world then let me help you out with this list of abbreviations.

Some of the most helpful things I found on the knot boards were the bios. There are planning bios that are the inspiration and ideas all composed together. Then following the wedding there are wedding bios that basically show you different elements of the day and recap all the details in pictures. Some of them include vendor reviews which are really helpful if you are planning a wedding in the same area.
Here are some archives of knottie bios that are all together if you have some extra time and just want to look for ideas:

Weddingbee features Wedding Bios every Wednesday. I always look forward to them because somehow they always find the best ones! They recently made the Wedding Bio Feature you can look at, or go to Mrs. Bird of Paradise’s archive where she used to post the “Knottie Bios of the Week.”
If this is old news for you I’m sorry about the repetition, but if you are new…hopefully you will find this helpful. Also be sure to check the blogroll in my side bar and the Personal Wedding Reports and Blogs page if you want more wonderful ideas and inspiration.
What else was helpful for you as you were getting started with your wedding plans and navigating the wedding blog world??
