Guess Who Is a Bee!?!

Have you checked Weddingbee today? I’m the newest bee to the hive! I am Miss Duckling!

Remember when I said that there was a lot going on? Well this is one of those things! :) I still have a few more things to fill you all in on, but I’ll have to make you wait a little longer.

I had originally been planning on writing a post giving you all the exciting news in advance, but my introduction came a little early. I’m so excited and honored to become a bee since as you know Weddingbee is one of my favorite wedding blogs. I of course will still be posting and writing here so don’t worry that I’m going to disapear. I’ll be refering to Mark as Mr. Ducky from here on out since these posts will be going to Weddingbee.

I’ll be posting my introductory post later tonight so if you are a regular reader you already have the inside scoop. If you get a chance, go stop by Weddingbee today and say hi! I look forward to seeing all my wonderful readers on two blogs now!

DIY Ideas of the Week

First of all…Happy Halloween!!

There are so many DIY ideas in the wedding blog world right now and I love it!! I think I could be on DIY overload and adding way too many projects to the list, but it is so fun to see the creativity. I thought I’d share with you all some of the amazing ideas that I have come across this week.

To start, Mrs. Penguin over at Weddingbee posted about her Top 5 DIY Essentials. As I am trying to figure out what are the best craft supplies to add to my collection in preparation for wedding DIY, this post is so helpful.

I think I may have to go get this X-ACTO Laser Trimmer:

Also I have been looking for what kind of corner rounder to get, and she just so happened to recommend one that seems to get positive reviews in all the comments.

Once Wed always has wonderful DIY ideas. This week she featured the cutest idea for using your monogram on leaves. As you can see you could use these leaves in multiple ways throughout your wedding.

Style Me Pretty had DIY week this last week…which was basically amazing. You just need to go over there and look at each idea because they are all so creative and unique. Here are a few of my favorites though…

Could you ever have too much DIY?? Never! Elizabeth Anne Designs is having DIY month in November. I can’t wait for Monday to see what they feature first!

What does that mean!?! Navigating the blog/message board world

I’m a relative newbie to the blogging, message board, wiki (aka beyond email, facebook and simple internet) world. When I first got engaged I started on the knot with browsing the pictures and different subject areas. Then I became brave and ventured over to the boards. (Some of which I am still too scared to really become a part of) It seemed like things would be helpful, but I did not know half of what they were talking about! It looked like “alkjfdadlj adf aldf” some secret code that I could not decipher.  Definitely not something you can find in the dictionary…”Where is the wedding code?”
dictionary

How was I supposed to know that to find the wonderful centerpiece idea I needed to understand that “PIB” meant “Picture In Bio”? What is a “FI”? Do I want one?? If you want more info on how to make a bio for the Knot and copy links into your signature go here: http://knotcodes.googlepages.com/home

Some of the most helpful things I found on the knot boards were the bios. There are planning bios that are the inspiration and ideas all composed together. Then following the wedding there are wedding bios that basically show you different elements of the day and recap all the details in pictures. Some of them include vendor reviews which are really helpful if you are planning a wedding in the same area.

Here are some archives of knottie bios that are all together if you have some extra time and just want to look for ideas:

Weddingbee features Wedding Bios every Wednesday. I always look forward to them because somehow they always find the best ones! They recently made the Wedding Bio Feature you can look at, or go to Mrs. Bird of Paradise’s archive where she used to post the “Knottie Bios of the Week.”

If this is old news for you I’m sorry about the repetition, but if you are new…hopefully you will find this helpful. Also be sure to check the blogroll in my side bar and the Personal Wedding Reports and Blogs page if you want more wonderful ideas and inspiration.

What else was helpful for you as you were getting started with your wedding plans and navigating the wedding blog world??
